As the real estate market, along with the rest of the economy, continues to drift along, perhaps a few moments devoted to the requirements of making sales (and life) work in difficult times is in order. Real estate sales, like most of life, is really a mental game, one that must be mastered to thrive in tough times and excel in good times. But, what are the rules of this "game"?

First, the successful REALTOR must believe in herself and the mission. And not lip service, surface level belief, but rather rock solid, never a doubt, unshakable belief. Without that core belief that success is inevitable, any success experienced will be fleeting.

Second, the REALTOR must have a deep burning desire to succeed. The willingness to overcome all obstacles, to strive forward no matter what the challenge, that "fire in the belly" desire is not taught, cannot be gifted or forced, and must be present to win.

Third, the REALTOR must be committed to success. Real commitment means that just about everything else comes second. Such a commitment requires the support of friends and family, and, again, must be true, and not offered to satisfy the passing demands of others.

Fourth, the REALTOR must have confidence in himself and his mission. You cannot possibly gain the faith and trust of a consumer if confidence born of training and experience is not abundant.

Fifth, the REALTOR must possess the passion to take others where they fear to go. If you are not passionate about the prospect of success and the happiness that you provide to your clients, then there is no excitement, and no success.

Sixth, The REALTOR must maintain a great attitude, no matter what the circumstance. You simply cannot great the challenges placed in front of you every day without an indefatigable attitude.
